What is a Shopify Plus agency, and when do you need one?

A Shopify Plus agency builds and maintains stores on Shopify Plus, Shopify's enterprise platform. You usually need Plus when a standard Shopify setup starts getting in the way. For example, you might need a more customised checkout, B2B and DTC on the same store, or separate storefronts for different countries, currencies, and languages. If you do not need that level of flexibility, standard Shopify with a well-built theme is often enough. Paying for Plus only makes sense when the additional capabilities are worth it for your business. Conversion Design is a certified Shopify Partner. Shopify Plus vs Shopify: which one do you need?

Standard Shopify suits most brands. Shopify Plus adds checkout customisation, B2B wholesale price lists, multiple storefronts under one account and higher API limits. The practical trigger is usually one of three things: you need to change the checkout itself, you sell B2B and DTC from the same catalogue, or you run several country storefronts. If none of those apply, Plus is unlikely to pay for itself and a well-built standard Shopify store will do the same job.

How much does a Shopify Plus build cost?

At Conversion Design a theme-based Shopify Plus build starts at €5,600. Mid-range custom builds run €20,000 to €50,000. Shopify's own Plus licence is billed separately by Shopify. Cost is driven by three things: the number of unique templates, how much custom logic sits in the checkout, and how many markets launch at once. Scope and price are fixed before work starts, so the quote does not move mid-project.

A theme-based Shopify Plus build takes 6 to 8 weeks. Mid-range custom builds take 10 to 16 weeks. A migration from WooCommerce or Magento adds 2 to 3 weeks for data and redirect mapping. In practice the schedule is set by how quickly product data and content arrive rather than by development, which is why the first week goes on a content inventory.

Do you handle Shopify migrations from WooCommerce or Magento?

Yes. Conversion Design migrates stores to Shopify Plus from WooCommerce, Magento, Odoo and custom platforms. A migration covers products and variants, customer records, order history, and the part most migrations get wrong: URL redirects. Every old URL is mapped to its new equivalent before launch so existing search rankings survive the move, and Search Console is monitored after go-live to catch anything that slipped.

We increase conversion rate by fixing the specific leaks a store audit surfaces: benefit-first product pages, social proof above the fold, a friction-free mobile checkout, and faster load times, with every store built and tested for fast loading on mobile before launch. Every change is then A/B tested against revenue. Your rate is recorded before the work starts and again 60 to 90 days after it lands, so the difference is measured rather than claimed.

The average Shopify store converts at about 1.4%. A healthy DTC store sits around 2.0 to 3.0%, and rates vary widely by industry, price point and traffic quality, a €25 supplement and a €2,000 sofa cannot be compared. The most useful benchmark is your own trend over time rather than a single number, which is why we record your rate before we start and again after launch.

Localising an ecommerce store means adapting it to the market, not simply translating the words. The messaging, claims, pricing, currency, and creative all need to make sense locally. Claims may need to change to meet local regulations, pricing needs to follow local conventions, and the language should sound natural to the people you are selling to. We localise stores and creative across 30 European markets, including Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Poland, Czechia, Hungary, Romania, the Nordics, and the UK.

The common thread is not the product but the model: brands that sell direct, buy paid traffic, and need the store and the ads to move together. Supplements are a particular focus, because claim compliance differs in every EU market and that is where localisation earns its keep.

Yes, a lot of our clients are outside Slovenia. We are based in Ljubljana and work with DTC brands across 30 markets, including Germany, the UK, the Netherlands, the Nordics and the United States.

What is performance creative, and how is it different from a creative agency?

Accepted Answer

Performance creative is ad creative made to be tested rather than admired: static ads, UGC video, B-roll, landing pages and the angles and hooks behind them, produced on a cadence and judged on results. A traditional creative agency sells a campaign and a brand system. Conversion Design produces the assets and runs the testing programme, but does not buy media. You or your media buyer runs the budget; we make what goes into it.

Do you produce UGC, and how do you source creators?

Yes. Conversion Design produces UGC ads for ecommerce brands: we brief and source the creators, direct them against a tested angle, and edit what comes back into ad variants sized for every placement. Creators are matched to the market and the language the ad will run in, which is how the same product ships UGC across several European markets. The creators film; we brief, direct and edit. Product B-roll is cut from footage you already have, plus material we source where yours runs out.

What is UGC, and does it drive sales for DTC brands?

UGC (user-generated content) is authentic-looking video or photo content made by everyday creators that a brand buys with full usage rights and runs as paid ads, rather than posts on the creator's own account. It works because it feels native on TikTok, Instagram and Meta and often outperforms polished studio ads for DTC products. It drives sales when it is scripted around a tested hook and paired with a matching landing page, which is how we produce it inside the creative retainer.

Do you make AI video ads and AI UGC?

Yes. We produce AI video ads and AI UGC alongside creator-filmed UGC and B-roll inside the creative retainer. We use AI to generate and iterate on hooks, avatars and B-roll quickly, then keep every ad conversion-tested for Meta and TikTok. AI video is one lever in the mix, used when it beats filmed creative on cost, speed or performance, not novelty for its own sake.

Yes. Every creative is produced in the vertical 9:16 format for Instagram and Facebook Stories, Reels and TikTok, plus 1:1 and 16:9 where a placement needs them. That typically means 20 to 40+ new conversion-tested variations a month, allocated across static ads, UGC video, B-roll and landing pages as the previous month's testing dictates. Volume matters less than cadence: the programme is built to put a fixed number of new angles into test every month, so losing concepts are killed at confidence rather than on opinion.
